The Living Springs story

Beacon in the Harbour 1

February 1972. The paths of two Christchurch couples are brought together in incredible circumstances by a common dream, an inspired vision.

Neither couple have the resources to achieve their dream alone, so they walk together into the unknown, trusting that God will lead and provide. As they walk, others come alongside them, inspired also by the vision. And together they experience the wonder of miracles, the joy of fellowship and the satisfaction of hard work.

The vision of Living Springs has continued to inspire people, and today a new generation aims to build on the foundations laid by the founders. The future is exciting, but much can be learned from the past. Beacon in the Harbour tells the Living Springs story from its conception in the early 70s to the present day, through all its highs and lows.

Beacon in the Harbour celebrates the people, place and purpose of Living Springs. The personal stories of those who have invested their lives in Living Springs are spread throughout the text, as are numerous photos. The vision of the founders, and the refreshed vision of recent times, are both laid out in detail. Beacon in the Harbour also includes a history of the Allandale Valley and the fascinating story of Gerald O'Farrell.
