What facilities are available at Living Springs? Living Springs is a multi-faceted destination offering superb accommodation options, a range of indoor meeting spaces and function rooms and fully catered meals. Our facilities suit a wide range of groups - from corporate training sessions, meetings, conferences and team building days, to community group weekend retreats and school camps.

Living Springs is becomign known for its comprehensive range of outdoor education programmes which include activities such as sea kayaking, rock climbing, abseiling and low ropes courses to name a few. Our on site recreational activities include a fully operational Farm Park, indoor heated swimming pool, tennis, mini golf, mono rail and flying fox. We also have numerous walking and biking tracks on our 1,100 acre property.

Has Living Springs changed over the years? Yes, Living springs has grown and developed to suit the changing needs of our clients. While we are well known for hosting school camps, we have a growing base of corporate clients and community groups who use our facilities regularly. We are continually working to ensure the future of Living Springs in the hope that it will remain a place for future generations to experience. Living Springs is an integral part of the community and surrounding district in which it sits.

What is the history of Living Springs? It was first established in the early 1970's by a Christian Trust that had an amazing vision of establishing a camp based on Christian principles. Their vision: To create a place for people to experience the meaning and significance of life found in Jesus Christ. And to provide continuously changing environments and opportunities that facilitiate life enriching experiences through community relationships and the outdoors.

What are the key outcomes to be gained from your programmes? We aim for everybody to have a fun, safe, educational time that provides positive first time experiences. for School groups, we align our programmes to fulfil the objectives of the NZ curriculum as defined by the Department of Education. However, we believe we can offer purposeful outdoor education/ recreational value to all our visitors. Everyone can learn and experience something new at Living Springs.

What Safety & Performance Standards does Living Springs have? Living Springs is OutdoorsMark accredited. OutdoorsMark is the national outdoor quality safety assurance programme designed specifically for organisations involved in outdoor education, recreation and adventure activities. The OutdoorsMark safety-focused audit provides an independent process for assessing the robustness of organisational safety policies, procedures and practices for alignment with currently accepted outdoor industry standards. OutdoorsMark is administered, managed, and promoted by Outdoors NZ, the lead organisation supporting and representing outdoor recreation and education in New Zealand.

What are your operational procedures? Every morning, before deployment we discuss our daily jobs which include weather monitoring, changes to plans due to poor weather, communication and logisitics. When working off-site, we have a liaison person to inform the team of any changes and coordinate those changes from camp.

What is the emergency procedure at Living Springs? We have a step by step emergency procedure. Every instructor goes through a training exercise to ensure they are familiar with process prior to supervising. The procedure document is kept in every first aid kit and we carry out a full debrief after every training exercise to discuss improvements to the process.

What is the performance standard of your programme staff? Every programme staff member is required to have a current log book, current first aid qualification and have been inducted on all Living Springs programmes. They must also be familiar with the area and competent with all activities before instructing. The Programmes Manager is responsible for employing programme staff and ratifying their competency.
